LAKE
GARDA

September 12–15, 2026
Slow mornings, lake views, local wine,
charming towns & the best meals.

From Brittany

You only have two days here, so I don't want you trying to see all of Lake Garda.

Drink the wine. Sit by the water. Let lunch take too long. Take the ferry because the view is pretty. You've got nowhere else to be.

I've already done the overthinking for you. You just have to go enjoy Italy.

Love you ♡

Your Stay

Home Base

Hotel Eden · Garda

Garda is your home base for the whole trip. Settle in, unpack once and use the lake, ferries and nearby towns to do the exploring for you.

The Plan

September 12 · Arrival Night

Arrive + Settle In

Tonight

CHECK IN · SHOWER · EAT · BED

No sightseeing mission tonight. Get comfortable, wander into Garda if you're hungry, have some pasta and wine and call it a night.

Brittany Says

You just traveled to Italy. You have nothing to prove tonight. 😂

September 13 · Garda + Bardolino

The Slow Italy Day

Morning

WANDER GARDA

Breakfast, the lakefront, little streets, an espresso somewhere pretty and absolutely no rushing.

Late Morning

PUNTA SAN VIGILIO

Head north to this tiny peninsula for the harbor, cypress trees, lake views and Baia delle Sirene. This is one I really don't want you to skip.

Lunch

OSTERIA CAFFÈ AMARO

Back in Garda for seasonal Veneto food and local wine. Order whatever sounds regional and let lunch take its time.

Afternoon

BARDOLINO

Wander the old town and waterfront, shop a little, drink Bardolino wine and visit Lavanda del Lago, the lavender market happening today.

Aperitivo

BACK TO GARDA

Try Enoteca Alla Calle or Vinoteca Delizia. One glass of local wine, a few little bites and nowhere to hurry to.

Dinner

LOCANDA PERBELLINI AL LAGO

This is the special dinner. Go up into the hills above Garda for contemporary Italian food and lake views.

Brittany Says

Book dinner around sunset. This is your “holy shit, we're in Italy” night.

September 14 · Malcesine

The Big Lake Day

Morning

TAKE THE FERRY

Head from Garda toward Malcesine by boat. The ferry isn't just transportation — the ride is part of the day.

Explore

MALCESINE

Wander the medieval streets, waterfront and harbor and see the Scaliger Castle with the mountains rising behind it.

Optional

MONTE BALDO

If the sky is beautifully clear, take the cable car up for the huge panoramic view over Lake Garda.

Important

If it's cloudy, skip Monte Baldo. We are not spending precious Italy time riding directly into a cloud. 😂

Lunch

BE SPONTANEOUS

Find somewhere pretty in Malcesine, sit outside, order pasta or lake fish and have a glass of wine. No optimization required.

Afternoon

FERRY BACK TO GARDA

Take the scenic ride home, shower, change and give yourselves a slow final evening by the lake.

Aperitivo

IL CICHETO OR PINCI ALLA TORRE

Cicchetti and wine if you're feeling traditional, cocktails and people-watching if you're feeling festive.

Dinner

LE RASOLE OR AL GRASPO

Choose Le Rasole for a warm, seasonal, local final dinner or Al Graspo if seafood sounds better.

September 15 · Cruise Day

Garda → Venice

Morning

ONE LAST ESPRESSO

Have breakfast. Look at the lake one more time. Get in the car and head to Venice for your cruise.

Brittany Says

No Verona. No Sirmione. No “quick little stop.” It's embarkation day. Get your butts to Venice. 😂

Optional Adventure

If Mom Talks Dad Into Lake Como...

If you decide you absolutely have to see Lake Como while you're in Italy, here's exactly how I'd do it. Just know it'll be a full day and about 4½–5 hours of driving round trip from Garda.

01
LEAVE EARLY

Leave Hotel Eden around 7:00–7:30 AM. The earlier you leave, the more magical the day will feel before the crowds arrive.

02
DRIVE TO MENAGGIO

Instead of driving all the way around the lake, head to Menaggio and park there. It's a much easier arrival than trying to drive into Bellagio.

03
TAKE THE FERRY TO BELLAGIO

This is the fun part. The ferry ride gives you the iconic Lake Como views and saves you from dealing with Bellagio traffic and parking.

04
EXPLORE BELLAGIO

Wander the little lanes, browse the shops, stop for espresso, enjoy the waterfront and don't rush. Bellagio is beautiful because of how it feels, not because there's a checklist.

05
LONG LUNCH

Find a restaurant overlooking the lake, order fresh pasta, drink a bottle of wine and stay longer than you planned.

06
OPTIONAL: VARENNA

If you still have energy, hop across to Varenna for another hour or two before heading back. If not... don't force it.

07
HEAD BACK TO GARDA

Drive back before it gets too late, have a relaxed dinner near the hotel and enjoy one last evening on Lake Garda.

Brittany Says

Don't try to see Bellagio, Varenna, Como City, every villa and every viewpoint. Pick one or two places, slow down and enjoy them. Italy is meant to be experienced—not completed.

Eat

1.
Osteria Caffè Amaro
Garda

Seasonal Veneto cooking and local wine. My pick for your leisurely Garda lunch.

2.
Locanda Perbellini al Lago
Garda Hills

Contemporary Italian cooking with a gorgeous lake setting. Make this the special dinner.

3.
Le Rasole
Garda

Warm, local and seasonal. Great for the last relaxed dinner of the trip.

4.
Al Graspo
Garda

A seafood-focused alternative if that's what you're craving.

Drink

1.
Enoteca Alla Calle
Garda

Tiny wine shop energy, local bottles and the perfect pre-dinner glass.

2.
Vinoteca Delizia
Garda

Local wine, little tastes and a wonderfully unhurried stop.

3.
Il Cicheto
Garda

Wine + cicchetti. Basically training for Venice tomorrow.

4.
Pinci Alla Torre
Garda

Cocktails, spritz and people-watching in the piazza.

See

1.
Punta San Vigilio

Tiny harbor, cypress trees, lake views and that dreamy quintessential Lake Garda feeling.

2.
Bardolino

Wine country, waterfront wandering, little shops and Lavanda del Lago on September 13.

3.
Malcesine

Medieval streets, castle views, mountains and a completely different side of the lake.

4.
Monte Baldo

Go up only if the weather is clear. The view is the reason — not checking a box.

Order This

Bardolino DOC

The local red. You're literally in Bardolino country.

A crisp local white and a very good idea by the water.

Look for trout and other regional lake specialties.

🍝

Fresh Pasta

Obviously. This does not require further explanation.

AI Prompts

Copy. Paste. Plan.

Use these if plans change, the weather turns, or you just want help deciding what sounds best in the moment.

1.
BUILD MY PERFECT GARDA DAY

I’m staying in Garda, Italy and I want a slow day with beautiful lake views, a great local lunch, wine, wandering and one memorable experience. Group everything geographically and keep the day relaxed.

2.
SHOULD WE DO MONTE BALDO TODAY?

We’re in Malcesine today. Based on the current weather, visibility and wind, tell me whether Monte Baldo is worth doing right now or whether we should stay in town and enjoy the lake instead.

3.
FIND US DINNER TONIGHT

We’re staying in Garda, Italy and want dinner tonight. Ask whether we want casual, romantic or special-occasion, then recommend three great options nearby with what each place is best for.

4.
HELP US USE THE FERRY

We are staying in Garda and want to visit Malcesine by ferry. Find the best current ferry options for today, explain where to board, how early to arrive and what return timing makes sense.

5.
RAINY LAKE GARDA DAY

It’s raining in Garda today. Build us a relaxed day with good food, wine, covered or indoor stops and pretty places where the weather won’t ruin the experience.

6.
WHAT SHOULD WE ORDER?

We are at a restaurant near Lake Garda. I’ll send you the menu. Tell us which dishes are most local to this region, what wine to pair with them and which touristy choices we can skip.

7.
WE HAVE TWO FREE HOURS

We’re currently in [Garda / Bardolino / Malcesine] and have two free hours. Give us one easy, worthwhile mini-plan nearby without sending us across the lake or making us rush.

8.
GET US TO VENICE WITHOUT STRESS

We are leaving Garda for Venice on September 15 to board a cruise. Help us choose a safe departure time based on current traffic, parking or drop-off logistics and cruise embarkation timing. Build in a comfortable buffer.

Before You Go

01
CHECK THE FERRY TIMES

Confirm the Garda → Malcesine schedule before ferry day. Boat timing is allowed to dictate the day. That's part of the fun.

02
BOOK THE SPECIAL DINNER

Reserve Locanda Perbellini ahead of time instead of hoping for the best that evening.

03
WEAR REAL SHOES

Cobblestones + little hills + wandering = this is not the day for uncomfortable shoes.

04
DON'T OVER-PLAN

Missing something because lunch lasted two hours does not mean you did Italy wrong. It probably means you did Italy exactly right.

One Final Instruction

That's
It.

Don't add six more towns.

You've seen the lake. You've eaten the pasta. You've drunk the wine.

Now get in the car and go get on your cruise.
