WHERE TO EAT
One of the most important parts of traveling: stuffing your face with every bit of pasta.
Mamma Gina’s- Borgo San Iacopo 37r, 50125 Firenze- a personal favorite for classic homemade Italian dishes, anything with “Mamma Gina” in the title is a must order.
Trattoria Aita’s- Via del Parlagio, 2, 50122 Firenze- inexpensive with a lot of food and great company, be sure to order a liter of wine for the table.
Il Gato e La Volpe- Via Ghibellina 151r 50122 Firenze- best olive oil in town.
La Loggia’s- Brogo degli Albizi 12r 50122 Firenze-our favorite café with an amazing staff, inexpensive coffee and a great aperativo for the weekend afternoons.
Gusta Pizzaria- -fantastic Napoleon style pizza for just 5 Euro!
Natolino’s Pannino (Borgo Degli Albizi 17r) and L’Antico Noe (Volta di San Piero 6r)- around the corner from the FSU campus, two great places to get handmade focaccia and panninis to your liking.
Natolino’s- Borgo Degli Albizi 17 50122 Firenze - If you are looking for a nicer dinner with incredibly food, here is the place. We recommend the Pear and Gorgonzola Tortellini.
Love Life- Via Del’Oriuolo 26r 50122 Firenze – Open for breakfast and lunch, Love Life is a great place to grab a healthy salad or cous cous made just the way you want.
Sushinami- Via Matteo Palmieri 9r 50122 Firenze - Straying away from Italian, Sushinami has 10 Euro all you can eat sushi from 11-2.
Tijuana-Via Ghibellina 156r 50122 Firenze - Margaritas might be 7 Euro, but they are huge and the tacos and nachos are the bomb.com.
Perche No?- Via dei Tavolini 19r 50122 Fierenze - although a bit more expensive then most gelato places, it is by far the best.
WHAT TO SEE
The entire city is beautiful, but we'll give you the cliffnotes
Piazza Michelangelo- A panoramic view of the city. Make sure to go at sunset at least once throughout your trip and bring a bottle of wine or two!
Boboli Gardens- The picturesque gardens of the Pitti Palace and worth the 7 Euro entry fee. Perfect in the spring when the Peonies and Wisteria are blooming.
Il Duomo- The heart of Florence and the most epic exterior. Be sure to climb to the top; it is 2 Euro and you have to hold onto a rope but it is worth it.
L’Acadamia- The home of Michael Angelo’s David.
L’Uffizi- The center of art in Florence housing thousands of famous pieces and a great bar at the top.
Ponte Vecchio- The famous jewelry bridge and the only bridge not destroyed during WWII.
Ponte Santa Trinita- If you want a view of the Ponte Vecchio, this neighboring bridge is a perfect Kodak Moment
Sant’Ambrossia- One of Florence’s many markets, this is a clothing, fresh fruit, and meat market.
The Leather Market- If you want a leather souvenir this is the place to go, just be sure to barter. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING OF VALUE HERE. I know you want that Italian leather jacket but please, please, please do not buy one from a stall. They are over-priced and most likely made in China. Go back behind the stalls into the actual shops and there you will find your quality Italian leather goods hand made in Italy.
Selectitaly.com is a great way to get your tickets in advanced and avoid the lines! Especially if you go during the busy seasons of May-August.
WHERE TO DRINK
You know we love our booze, here are some of our favorite bars in our favorite Italian City
TOURS + TIPS
Every city has a lot to offer, but sometimes the surrounding areas offer a few hidden gems waiting to be discovered.
Lucca/Pisa
Sienna
Cinque Terre
Fiesole
Greve in Chianti
Kikuya- - A cozy Italian bar with great beer, our favorite is Dragoon (10% ABV).
Volume- the perfect bar to see how the locals live.
Lion’s Fountain- the cheapest bar as well as where all of the college kids hang out.
Red Garter- if you are in the mood for some American flair, you’ll find yourself right at home with Beer Pong every Tuesday.
Blob- -All bars in Florence close by 3, except Blob, a slightly illegal after hours 90’s bar. Behind soundproof doors, you need a card to get in, just tell the bouncer you left it at home and they’ll probably let you in.
Angie’s- - Another inexpensive bar great for a chill night.
Uncle Jimmy’s- -Just a super fun place, the people are great and, although a little farther out, a good place to start the night with a few beers.
